Description
Thanks to the spherical shape and the relatively small sealing area, the seal achieves a high specific pressure during installation and thus very good sealing properties.
Lens seals withstand high specific pressures and are thus safe against "drag". Other advantages are practically complete resistance to firing of the seals and further larger contact area compared to RTJ seals.
Lens seals require a corresponding shape of the sealing surface of the flange, most often it is a conical shape with an opening angle of 140 °. The spherical shape of the seal gradually deforms with respect to this specific pressure relative to this surface, and thus the real sealing surface also increases.
- The hardness of the flange material must always be higher than the hardness of the sealing material!
- The seals are manufactured in accordance with DIN 2696 or various industry standards.
